I believe that deep down, everyone harbors a piece of greenery—whether it’s a windowsill that catches the sun, a small balcony, or a yard you can design as you please. Everyone also has the ability to let that greenery take root, sprout, and flourish. It’s just that, more often than not, we’re held back by thoughts like “I need a natural talent,” “the barrier to entry is too high,” or “I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep it alive.”

My own gardening journey began with one “setback” after another. At first, I couldn’t even get the watering right—my mint withered, my succulents grew spindly, and my roses were ravaged by pests until only the stems remained. But each failure only made me more determined to figure out: What exactly was at work here? I started reading books, researching, and recording light exposure times and watering frequencies, treating failures as experimental data and successes as replicable lessons. Gradually, my balcony came alive with the red of tomatoes, the green of herbs, and the pink of hydrangeas—behind these colors lay my increasingly clear understanding of soil, light, water, and the seasons.

That journey—from “whatever I grow dies” to “knowing what to do and when”—made me realize: Gardening is never some mysterious gift; it’s a set of knowledge and skills that can be learned and mastered. Anyone can do it, as long as someone explains the methods clearly and points out the pitfalls in advance.

It was this belief that gave birth to homeplantguide. I no longer just take notes for myself; I want to share these tried-and-true, practical methods with more people. I hope to help every gardening enthusiast—whether you’re sowing seeds for the first time or have been discouraged by failed attempts—find a clear path, avoid the pitfalls I’ve stumbled into, and turn your green dreams into a tangible part of your daily life with less time and fewer setbacks.

I believe that a thriving home garden is not just a triumph for the plants, but also a affirmation of our ability to take control of our own lives. And my role is to stand by your side, handing you both the methods and the confidence you need.
